Community & Projects
Community
TanzaniteOne provides direct employment to over 650 local Tanzanians. Through a variety of projects, the company works to re-invest in the community in which it operates.
Ecology
We are intent on keeping the local community and their land safe and healthy. As often as possible, we introduce and embrace safer, cleaner and greener technologies. Additionally we sponsor projects to regenerate the local environment and encourage the return of wildlife to former mining areas.
Projects
Schools, Health and Community Centres
The Nasinyai Primary School provides an education for 420 children, with TanzaniteOne's funding and support. Other key community projects have included a Medical Clinic, a Community Center and a Secondary School for boys and girls that is nearing completion.

Mine Site Water Supply
Fresh water from TanzaniteOne is now able to be pumped daily into the surrounding local community. A reverse osmosis plant ensures the water is free from excess fluoride which damages bone and tooth formation at a young age. Almost 5000 heads of cattle and 2000 villagers have access to this water supply.

Road Building
A road way maintained by TanzaniteOne and the Tanzanite Foundation runs from Kilimanjaro airport to the entire mine site (over 16 kilometres). Regularly graded and repaired, local miners and those from TanzaniteOne use the road to access the entire mining area. Local businesses and villagers can also make use of the road.
